Home School Thursday Program
(Pre-School - 2nd Grade)
The purpose of the this program is to provide
supplemental academic instruction in reading, phonics,
writing, math all with an emphasis on building critical
thinking skills and socialization skills. The teacher
evaluates the student’s performance in these academic
areas and through parent conferences apprises parents
of the child’s level of performance as well as areas
that need improvement.
(Grades 3 - 8)
A
classical education approach will be used, guiding students
to develop higher level thinking skills. Grades 3-5 program
consists of science, math, critical thinking, physical
education and the fine arts – art, music and drama.
Grades 5-8 will be language intensive using the classical
education approach to train students to analyze, draw
conclusions, and make decisions using critical thinking.
Science, math, and Language Arts receive instruction and
assignments for the days not in attendance.

In addition to the offering of classes, the following
services are provided:
- Academic
counseling to help families select curriculum that meets
the child’s learning style.

Stanford and Olsat standardized testing to evaluate
student progress.
- Scheduled
field trips to help parents provide additional learning
experiences.
- A
library of parent materials to help parents find suitable
instruction materials for their child.
- Portfolio
evaluation of student work.
- Supervision
in the keeping of attendance to meet guidelines.
- Housing
of student records.
